Meet Board Member Ariana Goswick

Ariana Goswick joins PYO with a background in youth development.  Goswick began this work in New York City, at Manhattan’s LGBT Center.  Central to Ariana’s role, as a Youth Prevention Counselor, was establishing and maintaining a community of inclusion built on the values of respect, openness, sensitivity and personal responsibility.  Within this framework, she managed and led a spectrum of Center Youth’s empowerment, internship and drop-in programs.  In November of 2014, Goswick moved from New York City to Durham, where she joined NC START as a Clinical Coordinator. In this role she provided multi-systemic crisis prevention and intervention services for transitional-age youth with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness. In March of 2017, she transitioned to the role of Supportive Schools Coordinator with SHIFT NC. In collaboration with North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction’s Healthy Schools Program, and the North Carolina Division of Public Health’s Injury and Violation Prevention branch, Goswick is overseeing state-wide implementation of LGBTQ ally trainings and transgender workshops for school personnel.

“I’m thrilled to take part in this project and look forward to continued opportunities to create safe and affirming environments for LGBTQ young people,” she said.
