PYO Seniors: Scholarships

Tom Joyner Foundation Scholarships to HBCUs:  For students applying to go a 4 year accredited Historically Black College or University.  Go to www.tomjoynerfoundation.org/category/scholarships to apply.  Deadline:  Applications must be postmarked by January 16, 2016.

North Carolina Hospitality Education:  For students interested in Culinary Arts or Hospitality.  $750; renewable at higher rate.  Must enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 4 year university/college.  Please contact Alyssa Barkley at (800) 582-8750.  Deadline:  January 18th

Mary Ellen Locher Foundation:  For students who have lost a parent due to breast cancer or have a parent who has survived breast cancer.  Students must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university.  Student must have a high school diploma or GED.  Student must also have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Please contact Cindy Pare at (423) 490-4555 or [email protected]Deadline:  January 22nd

Spelman College:  For students who are interested Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, and Mathematics.  The scholarship covers amounts up to full tuition, fees and room/board; it is also renewable.  Awarded to 65 students annually!  Please contact the Office of Admission at (800) 982-2411 or (404) 270-5193.  Deadline:  January 31st

Fayetteville State University Chancellor’s Special Talent Scholarship:  For students who are interested art, dance, music, theater, writing, and athletics.  The amount of the scholarship varies.  Please the Office of Financial Aid  (800) 368-4210.  Deadline:  January 31st

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship/NCAE and NC Foundation for Public School Children:  General Scholarship (distributed during fall and spring semesters of freshman year).  Students must be NC residents enrolled in public high school  during senior year.  Criteria include character, community involvement and scholastic achievement.  Go to www.NCAE.org or www.NCFPSC.orgDeadline:  February 1st (must be postmarked by the 1st).

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation:  For students interested in Teaching, Nursing, Medical, Architecture, Interior Design, and Speech Therapy.  $466-$3000; varies by state.  Please contact Kathy Loyd, Scholarship Director at [email protected]Deadline:  February 1st
